Group Decisions: Consensus or Concession? ™

Effective group processes are one of the hallmarks of a healthy organization. Employees are often expected to make decisions as a group, particularly those employees working in teams. Effective group decision-making becomes even more important during periods of organizational change.

In a healthy organization, the most important decisions are reached through the process of consensus. Consensus allows all members the chance to provide input, feel free to express their ideas and opinions, and make decisions that are supported by all members.

After participating in this workshop, employees will:

  • Understand five commonly used group decision-making methods and know when to apply them
  • Learn to use brainstorming as a tool for generating creative alternatives
  • Learn and practice the process of consensus
